IEEE 1547.2-2023 is an informative application guide for IEEE 1547-2018 that gives the Area EPS operator, the authority governing interconnection requirements, the DER operator, the designer and the installer the technical background, the rationale and worked examples behind the base standard; it carries no requirements of its own. Clause 1.5 limits it as the base standard is limited, to distribution-connected DER.
