- IEEE Standard Conformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Energy Resources with Electric Power Systems and Associated Interfaces
Annex A.2 of IEEE 1547.1-2020 defines clearing time as the interval from the start of the abnormal condition until the DER ceases to energize the Area EPS, made up of detection time, any adjustable delay, the interposing device operating and arcing time, and the interrupting device time. The trip time, which starts at the leading zero crossing in the first half cycle where the parameter is beyond its limit, can be either a part of the clearing time or equal to it; every normative requirement is expressed as a clearing time.

- IEEE Standard for Interconnection and Interoperability of Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs) Interconnecting with Associated Transmission Electric Power Systems
In the clause 3.1 definitions of IEEE 2800-2022 the continuous, mandatory and permissive operation regions are adapted from IEEE 1547-2018; the behavior that IEEE 1547-2018 calls momentary cessation is termed current blocking here, and a unit in the permissive region may ride through either by staying in mandatory operation or by current blocking.
